Christmas music

Today I shared some Christmas music as a part of a project called “It’s Light Now”.

It’s four tracks with one original by my friend Chris Gutierrez and three traditional hymns and spirituals.

I’m calling it a project instead of just an album because I think it’s going to grow. It’s been a lot of fun to connect with different people and see what christmas melodies connect with different people and then bring those together. I’d like to keep doing that.

Lots of people were involved in this, both friends and family. I acted as the producer, organizer, and as a musician too. I’d like to bring in more voices and keep it going.

The title comes from the song by Chris. It’s a clever title in that the song doesn’t actually have those words, it just hints at it (“soon the day will come”) and introduces that pattern of speech: “It’s cold now”, “It’s dark now”. But it leads you to that conclusion. I love that. I had a lot of fun arranging the instrumental parts to try to draw out that theme in the music.
